Pope Francis Took the Bus Back

Pope Francis took the bus back

Shortly after being elected the new head of the Catholic Church, Pope dismissed the limousine and took the last bus with the other cardinals.

Most cardinals had taken earlier buses back and they had set themselves up to greet the new Pope , says New York-Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who gives a little insight into Jorge Bergoglios first hours as Pope Francis.
 May God forgive

Cardinals expected that Pope Francis came in the limousine that was waiting for him when they were going to drive back. But when the last bus came, Pope Francis surprisingly was one of them who came  out.

- He said to the bus driver: "It's okay, I'm riding with the boys," says Cardinal Dolan.

During dinner  Pope Francis showed  his humorous side.

- We drank to him, and when he raised his glass back, he said: "May God forgive you." Then the Pope laughed  says Dolan.

The new pope told the cardinals Thursday that he will visit the former pope, Pope Benedict emeritus and a basilica in Rome.

- In addition, I must check out of here and pay the bill, said Pope Francis to  new laughter.

Boost

Cardinal Dolan describes the atmosphere inside the Sistine Chapel when it was counted 77 votes for Bergoglios, two-thirds of the votes that were needed.

- We applauded, but we then had to wait while the rest of the votes were counted. When we clapped again, and then again when he accepted the election, says Dolan.

A few minutes later Bergoglios went into the sacristy of the chapel to switch to the white papal clothes.

When he came out it had been set up a large throne-like chair for him. But the newly elected Pope sat down in a chair instead...... on the same level as cardinals.

The election of Pope Francis will provide a boost for the Catholic Church in America, according to Dolan:

- He is an extraordinary earthy man. A man with confidence, balance, a lovely sincerity and simplicity.
